Bill Sines

Impressionist Painter and Pen and Ink Artist

Bill Sines is a disciplined and diverse artist with a creative edge. His paintings capture North American settings with subtle abstractions and vibrant color. Bill also produces intricate black and white ink drawings that show a well executed eye for realism. His work is a great addition to any collection.

Naturally inclined, Bill showed interest in visual arts as a child but only pursued his passion seriously after raising children of his own. He began painting with acrylics in 1990, where he joined Charlotte, North Carolina Art League as a treasurer. He spent $1000.00 on supplies one day and just began. While living in Charlotte he studied with Boyce Kendrick a professor of art at Central Piedmont Community College. While living in California he was a member of the Costa Mesa Art League. He studied under Diane Eugster for three years in Las Vegas. Bill explored many aspects of art - from acrylics and oil paintings to pastels, watercolors and pen & ink. He worked as an engineering machine designer in Las Vegas and Newport Beach, California. North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Lousiana, California, Washington State and New Jersey are all represented in his work.

Also a skilled musician. Bill plays saxophone and clarinet with the Cape May County String Band, John Walters Cape Community Band, Hamilton Township Community Band and Saint Peters Praise Band of Ocean City. He also sings in the heralded choir at Saint Peters United Methodist Church in Ocean City, New Jersey.

Bill is an artist in both the visual and audio fields, but acrylic and oil painting is his true passion. Bill notes that "oil paintings are the most difficult to complete, however, acrylic is easier to work with and just as good color wise. What's important to me is to be able to give something back through my art work; for someone to look at a painting and be taken away from reality, or own a piece and get a feeling of serenity every time they see it." An avid collector himself, he is familiar with the feeling. "When I see a great work of art, I'm not worried about my next dollar or my health... just that feeling. That's what art is all about."

Bill currently resides in Egg Harbor Township with his wife. He is a member of the Ocean City Fine Arts League, located in Ocean City, New Jersey where his work is currently on display. For more information, please contact Bill at 609-653-4330.
