Katherine Mott

I previously worked in the court reporting field for 14 years. I retired in 1992, enrolled in college in 1996 to complete my degree in English. However, I developed an interest in the arts in 1998, began taking college courses in the art department and eventually graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Art in 2005.

During my college tenure, I developed an acuity with many computer software programs, most notably Adobe Photoshop, which is my program of choice when designing/creating my work. As I chose a painting core in college, I also have an extensive background in that area as well. I studied with Dr. Apelson at Rowan University, taking two semesters of printmaking which included intaglio, screen printing, and lithography.

My most recent body of work is the bottles to botanicals series, which is a subtractive as well as additive process, a style more realistic than my previous work. I use oils, oil pastels, acrylic mediums and fabric in the process. There are also digital watercolors available on the theme of seashells that are printed by computer and then manually manipulated.

Earlier work includes a calendar series -- a combination of both digital design and oil/acrylic media. These are portraits of mannequin models, famous women in history, and women of interest.

I am serving on the board of directors at the Ocean City Fine Arts League, currently as curator of the Joe Kardonne Collection. My duties include organizing all of the late artist's work and incorporating this information into a sale catalog for the League.
