Pastel Show Reception - September 2009
![]() It was standing room only on Friday September 4th at the Ocean City Fine Arts Leagues Pastel Show Reception. Guitarist Reid Alburger played softly in the background as the capacity crowd admired the new show that runs through September 30th. Board President Wanda Kline was pleased to present awards to the show winners: Deb Spinella who took first place for her work “Road to Crow Creek Farm”, and Diane Brown 2nd place winner for “Tomatoes”. Honorable Mention Awards went to Ray Jaffe for “Through The Pines” and Chun-Yan Hilyard for her work “Memories of Last Fall”. A Special Achievement Award was presented to first time entrant and senior citizen Winnie Sweigart for “Tulips in Sand”. “Winnie has only recently taken up Pastels and was very pleased to be selected for an award”, said Joanne Bernardini. “This was her very first entry!“ Bernardini continued. The reception was a double celebration in that the gallery was officially welcoming Frances Hughes as a new OCFAL Board Member and Bernardini as it’s new Manager. “ We have some exceptionally talented artists here at the gallery and I look forward to working with them all!” Bernardini continued. The Pastel Show is free and open to the public seven days a week at the OCFAL gallery Art on Asbury, 608 Asbury Avenue.
